What it is

CSS Design Awards (CSSDA) is an awards programme and gallery that publishes nominees and daily winners with links to the live sites, maker credits and judge scores. The home page foregrounds the current award, then lists recent nominees and previous winners.

When to open it

Use the Winners archive for a dated stream of polished agency, portfolio and campaign sites, or the nominees for newer work. It is especially useful when you want a live example and its credited designer in one place. Follow the site's outbound link before studying visual details; the award card is only a preview.

Most useful

  • Recent winner cards pair the live site with maker, country, short summary and UI, UX and Innovation scores.
  • The nominees and winners pages provide stable chronological starting points; individual entries have persistent /sites/<name>/<id>/ pages.
  • The current featured site, Juan Mora Romero's portfolio, uses a charcoal canvas, oversized bold display text and an asymmetric project strip. The live portfolio shows those choices in context, including large image tiles and compact metadata.

Using it with agents

No published agent channel was found. Choose a dated entry, open its linked live site, and describe the actual layout or interaction you want to discuss. Do not send the award-page screenshot or scraped descriptions as a substitute for inspecting the source site.

Watch out for

  • The gallery's original descriptions, credits, screenshots and data are protected by its terms; browsing does not grant reuse rights.
  • Entry costs $50 USD at review, so award visibility reflects a paid submission process as well as jury selection.
  • Scores describe CSSDA's categories and panel, not accessibility, performance or suitability for a particular product.
  • Awards pages include many expressive portfolio and marketing sites; they are a weak sample for ordinary product interfaces.

Reusable ideas

  • Put a direct live-site link and maker credit beside each award entry.
  • Show separate UI, UX and innovation scores so visual quality and usability are not collapsed into one number.
  • Keep dated nominee and winner archives so references can be found again after the homepage changes.
