What it is ​

Nacelle is a neo-grotesque sans-serif by DOT COLON, presented on a Japanese foundry page. The specimen gives the family one enormous word sample beside a narrow information column with the style list, download and licence.

When to open it ​

Open the Nacelle specimen when studying restrained type-first composition, a two-column specimen layout or an open font with a broad weight range.

Most useful ​

  • Split composition — a slim left panel holds the name, version, weights, download and licence, while the right side gives most of the viewport to the word “Nacelle” in huge black type.
  • Family overview — the page names Thin, UltraLight, Light, Regular, SemiBold, Bold, Heavy, Black and Italic styles.
  • Clear reuse terms — the page links SIL Open Font License 1.1 and states in Japanese that web, print and logo use, modification and redistribution are permitted.
  • The accompanying Japanese description positions Nacelle as a more natural revision of Aileron, retaining its goal of readable and distinguishable UI lettering.

Using it with agents ​

There is no published MCP, API, CLI or agent guide. The specimen exposes the font name, style list, downloadable archive and licence in ordinary page content, so a browser can retrieve those facts directly. The page itself does not provide an interactive text tester.

Watch out for ​

  • The live specimen is intentionally sparse and currently offers no visible controls for changing the sample text or style.
  • The site interface mixes Japanese and English. Browser translation is available, but the English information is already enough to identify the family, styles and licence.
  • The OFL applies to the font files, not the site's layout or type specimen artwork.

Reusable ideas ​

  • Give the type sample most of the viewport and keep download and licensing information in a stable narrow rail.
  • Let the font name itself serve as the main visual sample instead of adding decorative imagery.
  • Pair an explicit style list with a short design rationale, so the family is useful even without a live tester.
