What it is

Motionimo is a curated library of motion design work: showreels, brand films, commercials, explainers, title sequences, kinetic type and logo animations. This is linear motion graphics, not interface code. It claims 500+ picks; the sitemap listed about 450 video pages at review time, plus around 150 resource pages and a small journal. Mathis Fournier designs, develops and maintains it. The about page describes it as a free project for sharing good references, and submissions are free.

When to open it

When you are planning a launch film, product teaser, animated logo or brand sting and want to see how studios handle pacing, transitions and type in motion. It is less useful for UI micro-interactions; for those, product-focused galleries show more relevant behaviour.

Most useful

  • Filters by technique (2D, 3D, mixed, cel), format (showreel, commercial, brand film, short film, explainer, title sequence, kinetic type, teaser), colour and industry
  • Logo animations as their own section, useful for intro and outro stings
  • Studios directory for finding who made a piece you like
  • Resources: 100+ tools, plugins, software and learning materials for motion designers, plus a Cavalry vs After Effects comparison in the journal
  • Collections and private notes for building a moodboard (Pro)

Using it with agents

There is little for agents here. The llms.txt only lists the site's pages; there is no API, MCP, prompts or code, and robots rules block the saved and collection pages. Use it by hand: pick a reference, note its duration, rhythm, easing and type treatment, and give that description to an agent building the motion in code or in a tool such as Remotion.

Watch out for

  • The free tier is tight (three detail views a day), so browsing seriously means paying
  • Pricing on the site and in llms.txt disagree, and the about page still calls it a free tool; check the live pricing page before you buy
  • The terms were last updated in December 2024 and give a contact on a different domain (motionimo.com)
  • The work is linear video craft, not interactive UI; timing lessons carry over, but implementations don't

Reusable ideas

  • Build a launch video around one strong transition that links scenes, instead of many unrelated effects
  • Animate the logo as a short sting that can open and close videos and product loaders
  • Use kinetic type to carry the message when there is little footage of the product
  • Keep a motion moodboard filtered by technique and format, so a brief can name "2D explainer" or "3D teaser" precisely
