What it is ​

A visual catalogue of chart and diagram forms, maintained by data-visualization agency Ferdio. The main index shows each form as a small, consistently styled illustration. Its companion 1 Dataset, 100 Visualizations applies one World Heritage Sites dataset to many chart shapes.

When to open it ​

  • When deciding which visual form could express a dataset or relationship before choosing a charting library.
  • When a familiar chart feels too limited and you want to compare alternatives such as alluvial, treemap, radial, map or distribution forms.
  • When you need a quick visual vocabulary for a discussion about chart shape.

Most useful ​

  • Start on All visualizations and use Family, Input, Function and Shape to narrow the catalogue. Compare the illustrations in the grid, not only their names: the examples use restrained red, navy and grey on white, so each form is easy to distinguish.
  • Open the 100 visualizations study and compare how the same small table becomes different compositions. The first view is a treemap; the numbered links lead to individual treatments. Look at what each form makes prominent and what it hides.
  • The site is a reference for form selection and visual structure. It does not supply a chart implementation or interactive production component.

Using it with agents ​

No llms.txt, MCP, API or CLI was found. Give an agent a specific chart-form page or the 100-visualization study and ask it to compare visual encodings for your data; verify the result against the live examples yourself.

Watch out for ​

  • The catalogue illustrations are explanatory examples, not a production chart library. Their sample palette, labels and composition are not a visual system to copy wholesale.
  • No reuse licence was stated for the diagrams or study. Treat them as look-only, and do not reproduce the agency's artwork.
  • A chart's shape alone does not establish that it is the clearest or most accessible choice for a particular dataset.

Reusable ideas ​

  • Give every chart form the same compact card treatment so people can compare shapes without learning a new page layout.
  • Filter a large reference catalogue by multiple dimensions such as input, purpose and geometry.
  • Hold the dataset steady while changing the encoding to make the design consequences visible.
