What it is
Behance is Adobe's network for creative portfolios, founded in 2006. The about page claims more than 50 million members. Work is published as long-form projects, often full case studies that walk through a brand identity, a product redesign or an illustration series from brief to final images. Around the portfolios, Behance runs a jobs board, a freelance hiring flow with proposals and payments, and a store for downloadable assets such as templates, fonts and mockups.
When to open it
Open it when you want to see a whole design system or identity, not a single screen: logo, type, colour, grid, applications and mockups in one scroll. It is strongest for branding, typography, packaging and editorial work, and for UI case studies that explain the reasoning behind the result.
Most useful
- Case-study projects that show process, rationale and many applications of one identity
- Galleries by creative field, such as UI/UX, for browsing one discipline at a time
- Search filters for creative field, tools used, colour, country and school, plus saved moodboards
- Asset store where creators sell templates, fonts and mockups under the licence they choose
- Hiring flow with service listings, proposals, secure payments and client reviews
Using it with agents
Behance offers nothing for agents. There is no MCP or llms.txt, and developer forums report that new API keys are no longer issued. The robots file blocks AI crawlers by name, including ClaudeBot, GPTBot, anthropic-ai and CCBot, and blocks the v2 and v3 API paths. At review, gallery and search pages returned HTTP 403 to scripted requests. Adobe's terms also rule out data mining. Use it by hand: open a case study, note the type pairing, palette and grid, and write that into your brief.
Watch out for
- Many projects are concept rebrands or unsolicited redesigns, not shipped work
- Case studies are made to impress and rarely show constraints, testing or what happened after launch
- Assets for sale carry per-item licences; check each one before using a download in a product
- Scripted access is mostly blocked, so a Behance link given to an agent often cannot be opened
Reusable ideas
- Present a design as a case study: problem, constraints, decisions, then the result
- Show an identity applied across many surfaces so readers can judge whether it holds together
- Tag work by the tools used, so readers can find techniques they can reproduce
- Let creators choose a licence for each downloadable asset and show it next to the price
